Example: A sink's dimensions are LxWxD = 120x60x30 cm, i.e. 48x24x12 inches, and its fixture filled is 0.75. For a drainage period of 2 minutes, the calculated flow rate is 22.5GPM. By referring to the table mentioned above, the required size would be "25". (selecting the size just larger since 22.5GPM is in between 20 and 25 GPM)

Example: Consider a mid-sized restaurant seating 50 adults and operating for 12 hours a day. Serving a maximum of 90% of full capacity twice a day, and assuming a standard 30 minute interceptor retention time, the restaurant would need a grease interceptor of capacity 10 gallons, i.e. model Z1174-400, which has a flow of 15 GPM.

Example: A household consists of a family of 5 members. They can tolerate 10 days between regenerations, and their water supply is the typical Beirut city water supply with a hardness of 200 ppm. Their softener size would be 24'000 grains. By referring to AEE's Water Treatment Catalogue, one would select the 30'000 grain softener, which is the smallest available softener of capacity larger than 24'000 grains.
